Recently, there were significant strategies and paradigm shifts in product layout methodologies and platforms. the present R&D development is the advance of collaborative layout and production methodologies and platforms. utilizing a collaborative product improvement process, designers can perform worldwide layout chains and collaborate with one another and in a foreign country companions to pursue aggressive merits. It additionally permits designers to paintings heavily with providers, production companions and consumers throughout company firewalls to procure helpful inputs for his or her designs.

Collaborative Product layout and production Methodologies and Applications is an advent to a large spectrum of collaborative engineering matters in layout and production. It comprises cutting-edge chapters written through foreign specialists from academia and and displays the main updated R&D paintings and purposes, specially these from the final 3 to 5 years.

Collaborative Product layout and production Methodologies and Applications is a necessary reference for lecturers, upper-level undergraduate and graduate scholars and practitioners specialising in collaborative layout and production matters, concurrent engineering, Internet-based/intelligent layout and production, CAD/PDM/CAPP/CAM, net functions, product lifecycle administration, offer chain, etc.

The design of experiments is performed using a commercial application – iSIGHT. The result of the DOE is a set of points in the design space at which the analysis is carried out. The analysis of the component at these points is carried out in an in-house code or an Finite Element Method (FEM) program such as ANSYS [55]. The output of the design of experiments from iSIGHT is in iSIGHT’s own ASCII file format and the input to the ANSYS FEM solver requires the ANSYS ASCII file format. For automatic transfer of information from iSIGHT to ANSYS, a designer must write a parser to convert one file format into another.

The user selects an element from either side and creates the mapping between these elements using the “Map” button. Two text boxes show the source element path and the destination element path respectively. These paths correspond to the XPath of the selected elements. The information about mapping between all the elements is stored in an XML mapping information file that it can be later used to extract information from the outputs of the first agent and populate the XML input file of the second agent.
